Organizations - Numerous organizations are devoted to diverse aspects of rural communities. These sites are cataloged by federal/national, state, private, and international organizations.
Rural Research Centers - This site lists a number of centers who are involved in research in an area of rural health.
Literature References - This section will list journal articles, books, pamphlets and other references important to rural community development and rural health. Where possible we’ve tried to indicate where and how to obtain this information.
Health Information Databases - This section lists a number of extensive databases available on the internet on a variety of health and related topics. This would be a good place to start a search on a particular topic.
Community Assessment Tools
Community Health/Safety Programs and Resources - In this section, we’ve compiled information concerning existing rural health and safety programs. A good resource for health and safety promotion ideas for learners and practicing physicians.
Grant Funding Resources - Grant opportunities listed here would be appropriate for rural community leaders and/or rural organizations to investigate federal, state, and private funding groups.
Political Advocacy - As with any entity, rural health issues and special needs are heeded only when someone or some organization advocates for them. You will find examples of such here.
