RURAL PRISONS
Often rural communities seek out a prison as an economic development tool. The impact on the local health care and secondary and tertiary health care systems has not been well investigated.
OBJECTIVES
1. Be aware of resources dealing with prison health issues.
TEACHING STRATEGIES
Interview a rural practioner that had an established practice prior and after a prison came to town. Contrast patient population stress on health care system qualitatively.
