Rickettsia rickettsii transmitted by Dermacentor variabilis or Dermacentor andersoni ticks
Notes:
1.The prevalence of this illness is highest in the Atlantic seaboard states, states in the South and Southeast and states in the Rocky Mountain region. Mortality rates are 1 to 5 percent.
2.The pathogen Rickettsia rickettsii is transmitted by Dermacentor variabilis or Dermacentor andersoni ticks. The incubation period is seven to 10 days.
